Aarti Samani is an accomplished business and technology professional with a 20+ year career, spanning multiple sectors including investment banking, consumer tech and health-tech.

She is a specialist in global expansion in both mature and emerging markets. Aarti offers a proven track record in successfully accelerating distribution, revenue and penetration in markets like India & USA. She is experienced in crafting and executing successful growth strategies harnessing cross functional teams, commercial tools and the integrated product portfolio

Adele joined RSA in 1998 and currently works in the counter-fraud unit (CFU) leading fraud intelligence, fraud technology and strategic development.

Anna Issel is Head of Anti-Financial Crime International Private Bank. Her responsibilities include advising WM on all financial crime related topics, including high risk KYC files as well as optimisation of processes related to client on-boarding and client monitoring

Anna spent almost her entire career at DB, joining as an analyst c. 15 years ago. She has held leadership positions in Group Strategy, focusing on Principal M&A as well as Integration and Transformation. Subsequently, Anna joined Group Audit as a Chief Auditor for Anti-Financial Crime, building out dedicated AML and Sanctions teams, and working closely with key regulators such as FRBNY, BaFin, and ECB.

Anna was educated at European Business School in Germany and got an MBA degree at James Madison University in USA.

Bernadette Smith has been compliance director and MLRO at Cynergy Bank since 2019. In this position, Bernadette is responsible for the Bank’s efforts to detect and prevent all aspects of financial crime and fraud, as well as its obligations to comply with all tenets of regulation and law applicable to a financial services firm. Bernadette joined Cynergy Bank in 2018 as Head of Enterprise Risk Management. Bernadette previously worked at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office as a Risk & Compliance Manager and prior to this she spent over 5 years as a Senior Risk Manager at Nationwide Building Society.

David leads the Symphony AyasdiAI Product team and is based in London. His 14 years of experience in Financial Services is focussed within Financial Crime and Risk, including over 9 years of experience working for Santander and AIB in the UK. Most recently he has worked closely with financial institutions on financial crime prevention software delivery and consultancy for AyasdiAI and other leading software firms. He brings a unique combination of business, technical and analytics understanding to focus on maximising the financial and human benefits to our customers.

Prior to joining Hastings Direct in April 2015, David was the Founder and Head of the Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department (IFED), which was hosted by the City of London Police. As the Detective Chief Inspector, he was responsible for the strategic and tactical direction of the privately-funded unit of 39 police and support staff. The unit, supported by both Lloyds of London and the membership of the Association of British Insurers (ABI), investigated all types of insurance fraud across England and Wales

In an effort to promote the good work of the Unit and promulgate the “don’t commit insurance fraud” message, David appeared on numerous television and radio programmes, and also utilised social media.

The initial three year pilot was deemed to be such a success that the ABI agreed a further three years of funding, with an additional boost of an extra £750,000 per annum.

Upon joining Hastings Direct, David set up the new Special Investigations Unit (SIU), which he now leads.

The team has expanded significantly since its formation. The SIU comprises:-Claims Fraud and Policy Fraud sections; an Intelligence Unit with its own analyst; a team of Field Force agents who cover hotspot areas across the country. The SIU is responsible for managing all special investigations and since the summer of 2018, all instances of internal fraud.

David also chair the CIFAS Internal Fraud Working Group which shares best practice amongst its various Financial Services members.

De Quincey Bailey is a senior investigation officer in HMRC’s Fraud Investigation Service (FIS), Organised Crime Operations. He is a forensic subject matter expert in national and international money laundering systems, with expertise in the criminal exploitation of informal value transfer systems (IVTS). He has been a member of the Proceeds of Crime Lawyers Association and an accredited member of the National Crime Agency (NCA) Expert Laundering Evidence Cadre since 2016. In December 2020, he was commended by the Director National Economic Crime Centre of the NCA for his outstanding contribution in providing expert evidence in support of complex economic crime prosecutions and investigations.

He has spent more than ten years investigating and prosecuting professional Money laundering networks exploiting the financial sector internationally, giving him continued exposure to a wide range of criminality, and the techniques used by those involved in serious and organised crime to acquire, move and dispose of criminal proceeds.

He provides expert level technical support concerning Money laundering, Terrorist Financing, or the application of the Money Laundering Regulations (MLRs) to HMRC’s senior leadership team who are responsible for delivering HMRC’s response to the most serious attacks on HMRC core functions. He regularly gives presentations to domestic and overseas government officials, lawyers and private sector on ML risk, the application of the MLRs and SOC exploitation of the global financial system.

Aaron joined TruNarrative in 2021 and looks after our Banking sector. With over seven years working in Fraud and Compliance, he also has a specialism in Fraud Analytics and Consortium.

Erik Vynckier is board member of Foresters Friendly Society and chair of the Investment Committee, following a career in investment banking, insurance, asset management and the petrochemical industry. He has been Chief Investment Officer and Chief Executive Officer and frequently consults in investment management, quantitative risk management and derivatives.

He co-founded EU initiatives on high performance computing and big data in finance and co-authored “High-Performance Computing in Finance” and “Tercentenary Essays on the Philosophy and Science of Leibniz”. Erik graduated as MBA at London Business School and as chemical engineer at Universiteit Gent.

Gemma has worked in Fraud & Financial Crime for roles within the UK over the last 20 years and leads the Threat Analytics Team in the EMEA region within Biocatch. Biocatch is the pioneer and global leader of behavioural biometrics, helping the industry to detect fraud by leveraging human behaviour to prevent fraud. Gemma works closely with fraud analytics teams to help BioCatch customers understand their fraud and how Biocatch can help protect their customers. Gemma provides insightful knowledge and analysis to customers to help reduce fraud losses while also reducing the friction for genuine users.

Graham Bright is Head – Compliance and Operations at Euro Exim Bank Ltd, an innovative financial institution specialising in Trade Finance – issuing and relaying LCs, SBLCs, Performance Bonds and Bank Guarantees facilitating global trade.

With a number of roles and more than 35 years (with 20 years at SWIFT) in the finance industry, his experience encompasses working collaboratively with industry utilities, regulators and Central Banks (CHAPS and Enquiry link projects), consulting, and partner/channels management.

He holds a BA (Hons) degree in Business Studies, and is also a serving UK Justice of the Peace in Magistrates Court having sat on Criminal and Proceeds of Crime trials, and sits on Crown Court appeals.

Formerly Director of FSI Solutions and Strategy at EMC, he was a financial SME with responsibility for paperless banking, compliance and risk solutions. Prior to EMC, he was Managing Director of Financial Tradeware, provider of broker and hedge funds trading systems.

Euro Exim Bank Ltd, has recently announced its participation with Ripple, for real-time payments, low liquidity requirements for FX transfers using XRP cryptocurrency, and embedding trade messages in Ripple instructions, providing new instruction delivery solutions for the industry.

Graham is a regular contributor to trade journals (GTR, TFR), with published thought leadership articles in financial technology press, and a speaker at international trade industry conferences such as SIBOS, GTR and Ripple Regional events.

Greig has worked across fraud, data and analytics for over ten years. Originally starting in operational roles, he then moved into strategy and analytics, covering both plastic and non-plastic fraud at various points. He also took on additional roles in mortgages and financial crime during this time before returning to fraud. With experience at national and international banks, he then moved to BioCatch in early 2020, joining the Threat Analytics team for the EMEA region

For the last 18 years, Ian has been working with technology to provide solutions to banking problems. Initially, with Experian, Ian began his journey looking at Debt Collection, using tools to automate the management and treatment of customers experiencing hardship. Noting that many collections issues are as a result of poor onboarding processes, a move into fraud detection beckoned. At both the 41st Parameter and RSA, Ian helped clients balance the need for effective fraud prevention with a streamlined customer experience. Something he continues to do with BioCatch whom he joined in March 2021 where he manages their relationship with a number of strategic clients. Ian has worked in over 30 countries and looks forward to rekindling his fondness for travel following the pandemic.

Iain has spent 17 years specialising in Cybercrime prevention, holding positions within Banks, Consulting and Product companies. He has seen the rise of attack methodologies from individual attackers to organised crime groups and nation states, and has understands both the technical and human side of these attacks. He has been with BioCatch for 6 ½ years helping shape how behaviour can be used to detect new attack methodologies as part of their Global Advisory Team 

Recently joining Resistant AI as Principal Consultant, James brings more than 25 years’ experience in the industry. Formerly the Head of ID & Fraud within Experian’s customer solutions division in Europe, James has a wealth of experience in fraud and credit risk, identity management and financial crime. He has worked in program management, technical presales and sales engineering roles across a variety of industries and with global reach.

James is passionate about leveraging the power of AI and advanced technologies to counter the ever-evolving threat to society and business of cybercrime.

Martin focuses on building and running the regional operation to support organisations as they explore how to drive business value from graph analytics and connected data. He has over 20 years’ experience in the big data and analytics space building and running operations in Asia Pacific, Japan, and EMEA for companies such as MapR, Hitachi Data Systems and EMC.

Marie Lundberg is the founder and CEO of Acronym Consulting AB, based in Stockholm, Sweden. She is a financial crime specialist with more than two decades of experience within the financial sector, including investment firms, large internet banks, payment service providers, traditional and private banking. Her area of expertise includes anti-bribery and corruption, fraud, anti-money laundering, customer due diligence, sanctions and counter terrorism financing.

Marie is a firm believer of using analytics and the importance of knowing and understanding your data, as well as your customers. Awareness, a solid risk management program and education is in her opinion a few of the keys to combat financial crime.

She has extensive international experience, working mainly in the Nordics and Europe including the UK. She is a founding member and co-chair of the ACAMS Nordics Chapter and a Certified Fraud Examiner by ACFE as well as a public speaker and thought leader in this area.

Martin is the CEO & Founder of Resistant AI, which applies machine learning and statistical techniques to make credit risk scoring, fraud detection, anti-money laundering and other financial decisions resilient to manipulation and attacks. A serial entrepreneur, Martin was previously CEO & Founder of Cognitive Security, which was acquired by Cisco in 2013 and became the basis of Cisco’s Cognitive Threat Analytics (CTA) team which provided advanced threat detection by analysis of network traffic for more than 25 million users worldwide. A passionate educator, Martin has been lecturing on cybersecurity at the Czech Technical University in Prague for the past 18 years. He holds an engineering degree from Ecole Centrale Paris and a Ph.D. in AI from CTU in Prague.

Prior to joining Bottomline, he was responsible for managing the fraud and authentication solutions in the EMEA region for NICE Actimize.  Omri began his career in Israel’s elite technological intelligence army unit, where he served as the Head of the Global Counter-Terrorism section.

Roy Belchamber is Head of Product Management at NetGuardians, a Swiss Fintech specialising in delivering smarter AI solutions to prevent banking fraud. Roy has worked in the financial crime and compliance area since 2000, with a particular focus on transaction monitoring, for fraud, AML and market abuse. This was originally as co-founder of a specialist software company, subsequently acquired by Thomson Reuters; but more recently at SWIFT where he product managed the design and launch their real-time cross-border payment fraud prevention solution. Roy is passionate about helping customers innovative and get the most out of their investments in technology. 

Ruud Grotens, Certified Financial Crime Specialist (ACFCS), is Head of Solution Consulting, Fraud and Financial Crime, at Bottomline Technologies. With over 30 years’ experience internationally, advising banks (including central banks) and non-banks (including asset management firms, insurance firms, and MSBs) about financial crime risk management technology, covering anti-money laundering, counter-terrorist financing, sanctions, tax evasion, internal/external fraud including payment fraud and cybercrime.

Seun Oshinusi is the Lead, Financial Crime Operations Unit, Mettle. With expertise working as a fraud and financial crime professional previously working at Curve, Wonga and Jaja, Seun is highly skilled in Analytics, Financial Crime, Dispute Resolution and Anti Money Laundering. Seun has a Bachelor’s Degree focused in Criminology from University of Roehampton, before moving into financial services.

Simon has held strategic leadership roles with market-leading cybersecurity and fraud organisations including ObserveIT, Entrust, RSA (Dell Technologies), Pindrop, Cybereason and BioCatch over the past 15 years. Simon has specialised in driving strong revenue growth and scaling companies in competitive markets. His leadership skills are proven to demonstrate strategic management success in building strong teams, implementing appropriate sales processes from the ground up and leveraging both direct and channel routes to market.

Spent twenty years in UK law enforcement (City of London Police) investigating economic crime. Specialised in the pro-active investigation of Banking Fraud, Money laundering and Bribery & Corruption. Worked internationally with multiple law enforcement agencies in the US, Europe and Asia. This was followed by six years as Citigroup EMEA Regional Director of Investigations, and eight years as Barclays Global Head of Investigations for Investment Banking & Wealth Management. Managed a team of investigators who worked globally on all aspects of internal and external economic crime, whistleblowing investigations, regulatory investigations and litigation support. Currently Head of Fraud & Investigations at Lombard Odier & Co Ltd, based in Geneva. To date, forty years of international economic crime experience in both a law enforcement and corporate environment. Speaks frequently on economic crime investigations at corporate and law enforcement events. Is co-founder and CEO of the Association of Corporate Investigators a new start up association formed for the benefit of the corporate investigations community.

Trevor Barritt joined SymphonyAI Sensa as Pre-sales consultant at SymphomyAI Sensa in January 2022. Before that he held similar roles at other vendors for 18 years, preceeded by serving as Head of Compliance and Money Laundering Prevention at a number of leading financial institutions in London. Trevor also worked for the UK regulator for four years. Outside work, Trevor is a keen amateur astronomer and fan of opera and folk music. He also plays golf very badly.

Vinaya is the Global Head of Fraud Risk Oversight for the Institutional Clients Group and Citi Commercial Bank at Citi, and also has regional oversight responsibility for EMEA & APAC across the enterprise. She is responsible for assessing the current strategy and execution of the Fraud Risk Management discipline across the businesses globally; and agreeing the necessary actions with the 1st line partners to ensure adherence to the policy and framework. Her team works closely with risk colleagues in the regional and business risk teams and other key stakeholders in Corporate Security & Investigative Services, and Information / Cyber Security in maintaining a robust management of fraud risk through policy compliance, improvements in technical infrastructure and operational excellence.

Vinaya has 25 years of experience in financial services across Risk, Compliance and Internal audit areas. Prior to the current role, she was the Operational Risk Management for Citi South Asia, working closely with business and functional heads in proactively managing operational risk and providing oversight across Asia Regional Enterprise Operations & Technology.

Vinaya is part of the Steering committee of the Citi London Pride Network, acting as Secretary and Treasurer. When based in India, she was the co-sponsor of the first Citi Women’s network in Asia and a member of the India Diversity Council. Over the years, she has been mentoring young professionals, both in and outside Citi. She supports multiple charities working in the UK and India on creating greater opportunities for children from under privileged backgrounds.
