Celeste has over 20 years’ experience in operations and risk, with expertise in a wide range of payments and financial crime areas including fraud and AML compliance across both first and second line risk functions.  Celeste has led financial crime transformation programs across multiple organisations and industries.  In her current role at Bank Australia, Celeste leads the Financial Intelligence team and is responsible for all matters relating to financial crime including analytics, fraud operations and AML compliance.

Claude Colasante recently joined Betfair Australia as the Head of AML in early 2022.

Previously, Claude ran an AML/CTF consulting services business and spent over 20yrs working in federal government. Claude has extensive AML/CTF and law enforcement experience having worked with various Commonwealth agencies including AUSTRAC, the Australian Securities & Investments Commission, the Australian Federal Police and the private sector during his career.

At AUSTRAC, Claude held senior executive roles including the National Manager Intelligence, Director Intelligence, Director Innovation and Director Customer success within AUSTRAC’s Intelligence division. One of his key areas of focus and expertise was how to use and apply advanced analytics and data science to identify money laundering, terrorist financing and financial crime risks. Claude had responsibility for developing financial transaction monitoring capabilities and AUSTRAC’s contribution to the ATO-led, multi-agency taskforce Wickenby – combating offshore tax evasion. Claude has acquired a wealth of experience in anti-money laundering, fraud, white collar crime investigations, intelligence, forensic accounting, corporate governance, securities fraud and was involved in a number of high-profile criminal investigations and prosecutions.

In addition to his undergraduate studies, Claude holds an Associate Diploma in Business, a Diploma in Accounting, and a Post Graduate Diploma of Criminal Intelligence and a Master of Arts (Intelligence Analysis) from Charles Sturt University and is a member the USA Academy of Science and Engineering (ASE).

Jade is an Australian Legal Practitioner by trade, delivering sound advice with a solution-centric mindset that businesspersons today crave.  She is passionate about the data protection, privacy, cyber and information security of individuals.  

Whilst completing her Juris Doctor, Jade travelled to Malaysia as a student, to understand the GDPR, the world of Privacy and how much work Australia has to do to catch up with the rest of the world. At this early stage in her development, she recognised the importance of transparency in communications between parties and the rights of the individuals who interact with corporate entities, both from a client or customer, and employee perspective.  

As a “WHY Champion”, Jade seeks to answer the important questions of the industry and captivates audiences with her knowledge and passion of all things Cyber & Risk.  

Speaking at live events, educating on social media, presenting on podcasts, and listening to the industry thoughts and practices, contribute to Jade’s opening of conversations on what all types of businesses can be doing better to protect data, and still deliver optimal client satisfaction within the scope of the law.

Luke is an experienced anti financial crime professional, having worked in global banks and FinTechs for over 15 years. As an experienced MLRO and regular speaker at AML and fraud events, Luke is a subject matter expert (and self-confessed nerd) in the areas of anti-money laundering, fraud prevention, sanctions and PEP screening and anti-bribery and corruption. 

With a career spanning over Australian banks, as well as well-known FinTech companies such as Square, Airwallex and Wise, Luke is passionate about striking the balance between serving customers, protecting the firm from compliance breaches, and detecting and preventing crime.

Shendon Ewans is the CEO & Co-founder of Gobbill, an Australian company which specialises in making payments easier and safer for business owners and vulnerable people by reducing the risk of scams and fraud. Gobbill combines digitising invoices, checking for fraud and making payments automatically for its clients. The company is a registered National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provider for processing payments and is actively safeguarding its own NDIS participants’ funds from fraud.

Prior to Gobbill, Shendon worked at the Australian Taxation Office, Victoria Police and major banks on ICT projects including data linkage and pattern recognition for preventing and detecting fraud. He has 25 years of experience in business consulting and managing enterprise (ICT) transformations including working at PwC, Arthur Andersen & KPMG.

Simon has over 22 years of Industry Experience. He is an expert in Cyber Security & Cyber Crime Investigations and is a member of the High Technology Crime Investigation Association. He is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), IAM/RFID expert, insider fraud, biometrics, ISO 27001 Lead Auditor, Expert Witness and a first responder to major cyber crisis events. 
 
He has been engaged and appeared as an expert witness in numerous criminal and civil cases to analyse forensic digital evidence from VCAT level up to the High Court; some involving murder, CEM (child exploitation material), drug charges, catfishing, cyber stalking, and other alleged criminal activity where Simon has analysed evidence and given opinion on how well the procedure in the collection of digital evidence was followed by police. 
 
He is also a Social Media Expert, and is experienced and holds certifications in Ethical Hacking, Information Technology Professional, Penetration Testing, Splunk, Palo Alto, CyberArk, IBM B/C, Win32 API, C SQL, Java, Checkpoint Security Master (CCSM), and Google Analytics (GAIQ). He is a full SDLC Enterprise software and systems developer, and developer of business software since 1999.

Steven advises on financial services and fintech, with a particular focus on digital assets regulation and disputes. Steven represents leading financial institutions, fintechs, digital currency exchanges, startups and DeFi projects, and venture capital funds.  He has 14 years’ experience as a start-up founder and litigation specialist. Steven has a rare combination of commercial, legal and entrepreneurial skills. He adopts a highly commercial approach and is focused on helping clients to navigate regulatory complexity and achieve commercial outcomes.

Steven has experience with commercial contracts, corporate law, disputes, financial services and cryptocurrency regulation, regulatory investigations, and enforcement. He has advised on fraud investigations, insider trading, market manipulation, cyber frauds and asset recovery, IP theft, mis-selling, governance and directors’ duties, AML/CTF and sanctions issue. His experience includes advising on regulatory investigations involving ASIC as well as the DOJ, CFTC, MAS, HKMA, SFC and the FCA. He has acted on litigation before the UK Supreme Court and in the Hong Kong and Australian Courts. Steven also advises on arbitration and has experience in relation to international arbitration, investment treaty disputes, interim relief and enforcement of arbitral awards.

Steven trained at a Magic Circle law firm in London and worked for one of Australia’s leading disputes practices prior to joining Piper Alderman. Steven also has experience as a start-up founder and previously ran a Delaware incorporated Public Benefit Corporation. Swaranjit is a passionate Financial Crime (FC) Risk Analytics and Intelligence leader. For last 10 years, Swaranjt has been delivering FinCrime risk management strategies solving complex problems and transform AML/CTF, Sanctions and Fraud problems by effective and efficient use of data, visualisations, and technologies. An extensive experience and exposure in Banking industry for over 19 years across many banking divisions and Risk areas managing business functions, delivering initiatives and projects mainly involving Data only made possible by the “make it happen” and “thinking outside the box” mindset and ensured by applying good governance principles.

Pritida Vinod (GAICD, MBA) has significant experience in roles within the banking, telecommunication and contact center industries in Australia and India, together with significant experience in start-ups and corporates. She currently leads Financial crime, Fraud, Op Risk, Legal & Audit technologies at ANZ. Experienced in executive management, governance, program and project management and operations management, she has some board experience. She continuously disrupts and innovates to find Technology solutions to detect criminal activity and stop criminals in their tracks and keep the community safe.
